First of all, because we need it. As men we are naturally inclined toward doing, toward accomplishing, toward making things happen. But if we don't regularly take the time to stop, be quiet, and listen, sooner or later we find that our priorities have become disordered. We discover we are focusing our energies on the wrong things or going about things the wrong way. When this happens, we suffer (and so does everyone arounds us).
St. Ignatius of Loyola observed that the key to responding rightly to the challenges we face is to be attentive to our the spiritual life - how God is prompting us and what is seeking to distract us from him. Such awareness is indispensable for living our lives well, and one of the most potent means of cultivating this awareness is by going on a retreat.
The Made for Greatness Men's Retreat provides men with the opportunity to take this valuable time to grow closer to God and do so in a fully masculine context. Stiklestad Lodge is a corporate hunting retreat lodge that features things like trap shooting, ax throwing, campfires, and outdoor games. The food (featuring lots of meat) will be cooked on an outdoor smoker throughout the weekend.
More importantly, the 2023 Made for Greatness Men's Retreat is situated right in the middle the three-year national Eucharistic Revival and the theme of the retreat is "My flesh for the life of the world" (John 6:51). Men will be drawn deeper into the supreme gift of Jesus Christ in the Eucharist, and they will be usher in under the guidance of Most Rev. John Folda, Bishop of Fargo and our spiritual father. There will be opportunities for confessions, time for prayer and reflection, and some profound spiritual insights.
We expect this retreat to fill up quickly, so secure your spot now.

On May 27, 1989, Bishop Folda was ordained a priest for the Diocese of Lincoln by Bishop Glennon Patrick Flavin. For two years, he served as parochial vicar at Cathedral of the Risen Christ, and was a teacher of religion at Pius X High School in Lincoln.
In 1999, Bishop Folda was appointed rector of St. Gregory the Great Seminary in Seward, Neb. He served as president of the National Association of College Seminaries from 2008 to 2010. On Oct. 10, 2007, Pope Benedict XVI named him “Chaplain of His Holiness” with the title of Monsignor.
On April 8, 2013, Pope Francis appointed him Bishop of Fargo. He was installed and ordained on June 19, 2013.
