Diocese of Fargo Textbook Series

Bishop Folda has decreed that the textbook series Alive in Christ, by Our Sunday Visitor, be used in grades 1-8 in all parishes and schools throughout the Diocese of Fargo. For more information, contact Mary Hanbury (see “Contact Me”).

Bishop Folda has also decreed that the Great Adventure Storybook be used in the 5th and/or 6th grade classrooms in all parishes and schools throughout the Diocese of Fargo.

K–8 Curriculum Standards
Below are standards for Catholic schools and parish Religious Education programs for kindergarten through eighth grade.
There are two formats of the standards for each grade. They were promulgated by Bishop Folda on July 16, 2019.
1. General Standards: This is a “master list” of all the aspects of the Faith which should be covered in each specific grade. Each grade is divided into the four pillars of the Catechism of the Catholic Church: Profession of Faith, Sacraments, Moral Life and Prayer.
2. Standards Corresponding to Textbook: This document shows where the General Standards are covered in the textbook. It lists each chapter of the textbook. This document will be more useful for teaching.
3. Booklet of Prayers to be memorized. The prayers are taken from the standards for grades Kindergarten through 5th grade. Print double sided and flip on the short edge.
