Catholic Relief Services enters long-term strategy to help rebuild in Haiti

– Catholic Relief Services (CRS) has made strides in meeting desperate need since the Jan. 12 earthquake in Haiti, feeding some 900,000 people and providing food, water, shelter materials and medical care for hundreds of thousands in Port-au-Prince and beyond. Read entire story here.
 

ACLU presents inaccurate image of Catholic hospitals on abortion, say experts

Washington D.C., Jul 8, 2010 / 05:51 am (CNA/EWTN News).- A recent letter from the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) has asked the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) to investigate and take action against Catholic hospitals who refuse to provide abortions. However, critics have said that the letter misrepresents the Church's teaching in its claim that Catholic hospitals are violating their patients' right to health care.

 

Analysts of the letter also told CNA, any law or regulation requiring Catholic hospitals to perform abortions would disregard the rights of conscience that the Obama administration has promised to uphold. Read more here.

Bishop Aquila to lead pilgrimage to the “Heart of Italy” 

Experience an ordination Mass at St. Peter’s Basilica with Bishop Samuel Aquila during an Oct. 4 through 10 pilgrimage to Rome, Vatican City and Assisi. Those who wish to may extend their pilgrimage an additional seven days to tour Florence, Ravenna, Venice, Padua, Verona and Milan. 

Diocese of Fargo seminarians Phil Zubrod of Valley City and Chris Markman of St. Cloud, Minn., will be ordained transitional deacons at St. Peter’s Basilica. Attending their ordination Mass is among the many highlights pilgrims will have the opportunity to experience during this pilgrimage to the “Heart of Italy”.

Sunday's 10 a.m. Mass from the Cathedral of St. Mary, Fargo, is broadcast every week on cable TV.  In Fargo, it is on Sundays at 2:30 p.m. and Thursdays at 12:30 p.m. on cable channel 12. Please note that this rebroadcast is one week delayed. A particular Sunday Mass will be shown the following Sunday and Thursday, not the same Sunday.
