World Youth Day 2008, Sydney, Australia….Here we come!!!

The Diocese of Fargo Youth and Young Adult Ministry Department is heading up a pilgrimage to World Youth Day in Sydney, Australia.  This year's WYD is being held in July to accommodate Australia's climate.  Dates of this pilgrimage will be July 6 – July 22, 2008. It is being offered to anyone 16 and older.

Two days by air will bring us to exciting Sydney, Australia.  We will begin our pilgrimage with a brief overview tour of Sydney.  Next we hop on our personal motor coach and travel to a Diocese outside of Sydney to be a part of the “Days in the Diocese” activities.  During this time we will be housed in host homes and explore the wonders of that Diocese by offering a helping hand with service projects, sight seeing and partaking in whatever festivities that particular Diocese has in store for us. 

Next we move onto the World Youth Days in Sydney.  We will have catechesis in the morning each day. Every afternoon and evening we explore Sydney to see what type of venues World Youth Day has to offer.  Our World Youth Days will culminate with the Vigil and Papal Mass with Pope Benedict XVI.  After the World Youth Days we spend one more day touring the outskirts of Sydney. 

Cost of the trip is being quoted now at $4400.00/person.  This may change as the final contracts for air transportation becomes available.

National Evangelization Teams (NET)

Young adults from around the country (and even a few from foreign countries) travel by van across the United States offering retreats at your parish for junior and senior high students, family days and more. They will be available to provide retreats in our diocese next year (2006).

Youth in grades nine through 12 from across the Diocese of Fargo participate in the 34th annual March for Life in Washington, D.C., on Tuesday, Jan. 22.

Information will be available in August for next year's pilgrimage.
